MOGADISHU – Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, convened a high-level consultative meeting in Mogadishu with leaders of the Federal Member States and the Governor of the Benadir Regional Administration to discuss pressing national issues related to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political stability. Durqing the discussions, President Mohamud emphasized that safeguarding Somalia’s unity remains a top national priority. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts, undertaken in cooperation with the Somali public, to strengthen state institutions, defend national sovereignty, and ensure that the country’s territorial integrity is protected against any violations. The President reiterated that Somalia will continue to rely on both domestic resilience and diplomatic engagement to counter any external interference that threatens the nation’s stability or dignity.

They also underlined that any attempts to undermine Somalia’s sovereignty pose serious risks to regional peace, political cohesion, and security.

They voiced concern that such developments could escalate tensions and destabilize both Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa region. In response, they pledged their full political backing for President Mohamud’s national and international diplomatic initiatives aimed at defending Somalia’s rights, preserving peace, and ensuring respect for international legal frameworks.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity among Somali institutions and citizens. Leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Federal Government, regional states, and local administrations to collectively address emerging challenges, strengthen governance, and protect Somalia’s national interests. They encouraged the Somali people to remain vigilant, supportive of state institutions, and united in the face of any threat to the country’s sovereignty.
