Commander of Gorgor Commandos Visits Units in Central Shabelle
Jabad Godane, Middle Shabelle — Colonel Saahid Jamaac Faarax, Commander of the 1st Battalion of the Somali National Army’s Gorgor Commandos, today conducted a field visit to units stationed in Jabad Godane, Middle Shabelle. The visit comes amid ongoing strategic operations targeting Al-Shabaab, during which the National Army successfully dismantled several hideouts used by the militant group.
During the visit, Colonel Faarax received briefings from officers leading the operation, praising the troops for their vigilance, resilience, and successes in combating the enemy. He emphasized that the fight against Al-Shabaab requires unity, dedication, and professional competence, highlighting that maintaining national security is a responsibility shared by all members of the Somali National Army.
The Commander of the 1st Battalion of Gorgor Commandos, Abdullahi Mustaf Ali, also known as ‘Tima-weyne,’ provided Colonel Faarax with detailed updates on the operation’s progress and the achievements made so far. He highlighted the proactive role of the Gorgor Commandos in all parts of the region and noted that comprehensive plans are in place to ensure civilian safety and regional stability.
Colonel Faarax urged the troops to continue strengthening the defense of the nation, protect civilians, and neutralize Al-Shabaab elements. He reaffirmed that the Somali National Army is committed to ensuring security and maintaining stability across the country, especially in critical areas like Jabad Godane, where the militant group occasionally attempts to establish covert bases.
