Somalia: Cabinet approves establishment of “Unified Service Center” to improve public services
Mogadishu –
The Somali Cabinet, during its weekly meeting held on Thursday and chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, approved the establishment of a “Unified Service Center” aimed at coordinating, unifying, and improving government services provided to citizens.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the new center, which will operate under the Office of the Prime Minister, will be responsible for coordinating services between government institutions, simplifying administrative procedures, and reducing bureaucracy. This will enable citizens to access multiple services through a single point without the need to repeatedly submit the same data to different offices.
The Cabinet also discussed several issues related to security and public finance, as well as the situation of rivers in the country, based on reports submitted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
In the same meeting, the Council approved an international agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, focusing on the conservation of marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
The Prime Minister also praised the improvement in the country’s security situation, noting a significant decline in security incidents in recent periods, according to reports from relevant authorities.
The statement emphasized that the government remains committed to implementing reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of public institutions and facilitating access to essential services for citizens, thereby enhancing the overall quality of service delivery.
