Mogadishu Approves Peaceful Opposition Protests Under Strict Security Measures

The Banadir Regional Administration and Mogadishu Municipality have announced approval for opposition political groups to hold planned demonstrations in the capital tomorrow, Thursday, under a regulated framework aimed at maintaining public order and stability.
According to the official spokesperson for Banadir Region and Mogadishu Municipality, Mr. Saleh Hassan Omar, the demonstrations will only be permitted in designated locations, specifically sports stadiums across the city. These include Banadir Stadium in Abdulaziz District, Mogadishu International Stadium in Warta Nabada District, and the Universities Stadium in Hodan District.
The statement emphasized a strict ban on carrying any type of weapons and warned against any actions that could disturb public peace or lead to unrest, stressing the importance of maintaining peaceful conduct throughout the demonstrations.
It further noted that this decision comes as part of safeguarding constitutionally guaranteed freedom of expression, while confirming that security forces will be deployed to secure the designated sites and ensure the demonstrations are conducted in an orderly and safe manner.
