Somalia Calls for Stronger Global Support to Fight Non-Communicable Diseases at ICPPA 2026



Dar es Salaam – June 23, 2026

The Minister of Health and Community Care of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Ali Adam Haji, participated in the Third International Conference on Strategic Approaches to Major Non-Communicable Diseases in Africa (ICPPA 2026), held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

During the conference, the Minister took part in a panel discussion titled “Resource Mobilization and Financing to Support the Fight Against Non-Communicable Diseases in Fragile and Humanitarian-Affected Settings.” He highlighted Somalia’s current health situation, the challenges facing the healthcare sector, and the importance of securing sustainable funding and strengthening international cooperation to improve services related to non-communicable diseases.

The Minister emphasized the need for additional support for countries facing fragile and humanitarian conditions, in order to address the rising burden of non-communicable diseases, while ensuring equitable access to healthcare services for all members of society.

The conference aims to strengthen African cooperation in developing effective strategies to combat non-communicable diseases, share experiences, and enhance healthcare systems’ capacity to respond to growing health challenges across the continent.
