Somalia Brings Diaspora Leaders Together to Shape a New Engagement Roadmap

The Somali government has brought together leaders of the Somali diaspora from across the world as part of efforts to strengthen their participation in the country’s development and national transformation agenda.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hamza Adam Hado, alongside representatives from several Somali federal government institutions.

The conference brings together 30 Somali diaspora leaders from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa, creating a platform for dialogue between communities abroad and government institutions at home.

The conference aims to develop a Diaspora Engagement Roadmap that reflects the expertise, networks and investments of Somalis living abroad while aligning their contributions with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan 2025–2029.

The initiative seeks to strengthen cooperation between Somalia and its diaspora, with a focus on turning the skills, experience and resources of Somalis abroad into meaningful contributions to the country’s development.

By creating a clearer framework for diaspora engagement, the conference represents an important step toward building stronger links between Somalis at home and abroad and supporting Somalia’s long-term national priorities. 🇸🇴
