Somali President Meets Business Leaders to Strengthen Private Sector and Investment


El Alamein, Egypt – October 5, 2026: Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received a delegation of private-sector representatives and business leaders led by Yasin Mohamed Abbar, President of the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at his residence in the Egyptian city of El Alamein.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister of Commerce and Industry Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, as well as Somalia’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Ali Abdi Aware.

The discussions focused on the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s planned structural reforms and development initiatives, as well as the key challenges facing the country’s business and industrial sectors.

The participants also discussed ways to strengthen coordination and partnership between the Federal Government and the private sector, with the aim of supporting the national economy and creating a more favorable environment for investment.

The meeting highlights the government’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with the business community and encourage initiatives that can contribute to economic growth, private-sector development, and increased investment opportunities in Somalia.
