Somalia and Azerbaijan Discuss Strengthening Cooperation in Higher Education


Baku – October 7, 2026: Somalia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Abdinoor Tahir Fido, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in higher education, education, and scientific research.

During the meeting in Baku, the two sides discussed expanding educational opportunities and supporting Somali students studying in Azerbaijan, including providing additional academic facilities and opportunities.

The talks also focused on strengthening cooperation between universities and educational institutions in both countries, improving higher education standards, and developing sustainable academic partnerships that serve their shared interests.

Ambassador Abdinoor Tahir Fido expressed his appreciation to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Science and Education for its continued support and assistance to Somali students. He emphasized that expanding educational opportunities and academic scholarships for Somali youth remains a key priority for the embassy as part of efforts to strengthen the growing relations between Somalia and Azerbaijan.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in education and create new academic opportunities for Somali students and researchers in Azerbaijan.
