Somalia and Russia Discuss Security Cooperation in Moscow

Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, held a meeting with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Vasily Osmakov in Moscow on Thursday, on the sidelines of the Third Russia-Africa Summit.

The meeting focused on the latest security developments at both regional and international levels, as well as a range of issues of mutual interest and shared priorities concerning the work of the two defence ministries.

The discussions provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on security-related matters and discuss areas of common interest between Somalia and Russia.

The meeting was attended by Somalia’s Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Abubakar Zubair, and Brigadier General Abdullahi Mahmoud Haji, Commander of the Somali Air Force.

The meeting comes as Somalia participates in the Third Russia-Africa Summit, which brings together representatives from African countries and Russia to discuss cooperation across various sectors.
