Somalia Appoints New Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport

The newly appointed Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport has been urged to intensify efforts and uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability in carrying out his national responsibilities.

The minister is expected to work toward strengthening the country's ports and maritime transport sector, improving institutional performance, and supporting the development of Somalia's maritime infrastructure and related services.

The appointment comes after the Ministry of Ports and Maritime Transport remained vacant following the departure of former minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama, who was elected Speaker of the Federal Parliament's House of the People during a voting session held in Mogadishu.

The appointment marks an important step toward restoring leadership at the ministry and advancing efforts to improve the management and development of Somalia's ports and maritime transport sector.
