Jubbaland Concludes Military Training in Raaskambooni
Raaskambooni, Jubbaland – January 19, 2026
The Jubbaland State administration has officially concluded a military training program for security forces in the Raaskambooni area of Badhaadhe district, marking another step in strengthening regional security and counterterrorism efforts. The training was conducted for the Hanqadh Battalion of the Jubbaland Intelligence and Security Agency (JISA).
The closing ceremony was led by the Director General of JISA, Mohamed Ahmed Sabriye, widely known as Bassaam, who praised the trainees for their discipline, commitment, and readiness to defend peace and stability in Jubbaland. He emphasized that continuous training is essential for building capable security institutions that can effectively respond to evolving security threats.
According to JISA officials, the training focused on enhancing the professional skills, operational capacity, and tactical readiness of the forces. Special attention was given to counterterrorism operations, particularly in combating the Al-Shabaab militant group, which remains a major security threat in parts of southern Somalia.
The trained units were equipped with modern security techniques, including counterinsurgency tactics, area security operations, intelligence coordination, and rapid response strategies. These skills are expected to improve the ability of Jubbaland forces to secure Badhaadhe district and surrounding areas, as well as protect civilians and key infrastructure.
Officials noted that the training combined both theoretical instruction and practical field exercises, ensuring that the forces are well prepared to handle real-world security challenges. The program also aimed to strengthen coordination among security agencies and improve cooperation with local communities in maintaining peace.
JISA stated that such training programs demonstrate Jubbaland’s strong commitment to restoring lasting peace, eliminating Al-Shabaab influence, and building professional security forces capable of preventing insecurity. The agency highlighted that well-trained forces are critical for stabilizing liberated areas and preventing militants from regaining control.
Security officials further explained that the completion of this training will serve as a foundation for upcoming operations against Al-Shabaab in Jubbaland-controlled regions. The newly trained forces are expected to play a key role in ongoing and future security operations aimed at safeguarding the region.
The Jubbaland administration has consistently emphasized the importance of strengthening its security institutions as part of broader efforts to improve governance, stability, and development. Authorities believe that improved security will create conditions for economic recovery, humanitarian access, and the return of displaced residents.
The conclusion of the Raaskambooni training program reflects the determination of Jubbaland authorities to invest in long-term security solutions and protect communities from extremist threats. As operations continue, officials remain confident that strengthened local forces will contribute significantly to peace and stability across the region.
