Senior Somali Military Official Arrives in Baidoa Amid Ongoing Security Coordination
The Deputy Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Madi Nuri Sheikh, arrived in Baidoa, the interim capital of South West State, in a visit reflecting continued military coordination and field engagement within Somalia’s national armed forces.
Upon his arrival at Baidoa airport, Brig. Gen. Madi Nuri Sheikh was welcomed by the Assistant Commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Abdullahi Adam Hussein “Aro,” alongside officers from the 60th Division of the Somali National Army. The visit included an official reception ceremony and a military salute conducted by units of the 60th Division.
The visit comes at a time when southern Somalia continues to witness ongoing security and military activities aimed at strengthening operational readiness and improving coordination between military leadership and field units.
Observers say such field visits by senior military officials highlight the importance of direct engagement with troops, monitoring operational conditions, and reinforcing communication between central command and regional military formations.
The visit also reflects ongoing efforts by the Somali military institution to maintain discipline, organization, and coordination amid the country’s current security challenges.
The 60th Division remains one of the key military formations operating in South West State, playing an important role in supporting stability and security efforts across the region.
